Crewing company «PROTEAS MARINE SERVICES» — PMS was founded in April 2015. The company is an agent of the Greek shipping company LASKARIDIS SHIPPING CO. LTD. and it sets up crews for ships of this company only.
LASKARIDIS SHIPPING CO. LTD. has been successfully operating in the refrigerated transportation market for more than 40 years. The company is an associate of LAVINIA CORPORATION together with the affiliated tanker company ALISON MANAGEMENT Corp. and is located in Athens, Greece.
LASKARIDIS SHIPPING CO. LTD is the owner and operator:
- 51 bulk carriers of the type «Panamax», «Post Panamax», «Cape Size» and «Handy Max»;
- 21 refrigerated transport trucks; and
- 12 chemical tankers through ALISON MANAGEMENT CORP
The company’s reefer vessels operate in all areas of the world ocean and carry out voyages for the transportation of fruits, vegetables, frozen meat and fish and other refrigerated cargos. Most of the company’s charters are the transportation of deep-frozen fish, tuna and squid, reloaded in traditional fishing areas from fishing vessels, such as the Falkland Islands, the Southeastern Pacific Ocean, the Central Indian Ocean, the islands of Micronesia, as well as the supply of ships with fuel at sea.
Currently, PMS trains and dispatches crews totaling more than 1,500 people permanently at sea on 75 ships of LASKARIDIS SHIPPING CO. LTD.
Thanks to the high level of services, we have achieved good results – the existing business of refrigerated and tanker transportation, as well as the program of new construction of bulk carriers and tankers allows seafarers working in the company to look to the future with confidence, provides seafarers with great opportunities to get jobs on new modern ships.
Currently, PMS has been transformed into the central crewing office of LASKARIDIS SHIPPING CO. LTD., which selects crews for all types of ships of the company, coordinating its work with existing crewing agencies, who are agents of LASKARIDIS SHIPPING CO. LTD, in Kaliningrad and Vladivostok.
PMS has extensive and successful experience in the crewing business, and we are proud to state that in terms of the number of jobs provided, our company occupies one of the leading positions among crewing companies operating in the south of Russia.
PMS provides a full range of services, starting with the selection of a candidate for a position and ending with a full complement of crew. Our company, through its agents, organizes the delivery of crews from the port of engaging and, upon return from the voyage, delivery to the place of residence of the seafarer. All seafarers’ documents undergo a full expiration date check in accordance with International Conventions. Our company helps with the obtaining of the flag documents.
The entire command staff of the vessels is being tested to confirm their competence using the SEAGULL CES program.
Since 2014, the PMS has introduced a cadet program for navigators, ship engineers and electro-engineers. Cadets are trained on all ships of the company.
Following the personnel policy of LASKARIDIS SHIPPING CO. LTD, PMS is constantly working to preserve jobs for seafarers who have a positive assessment of their work on the ship, and a corresponding stable promotion for the command staff. The criteria for selecting candidates are, first of all, confirmed work experience on ships of this type, qualifications and English language proficiency.

In December 2015, the PMS company was tested, received the Bureau Veritas certificate for compliance with the requirements of the 2006 Seafarers’ Labour Convention and annually confirms that the company’s working methods comply with the high requirements of Bureau Veritas and all the newest requirements of international conventions and industry standards. Taking into account the increasingly increasing requirements for the training of seafarers, their professional level and knowledge, the need for continuous improvement of skills and abilities, as well as taking into account the high cost of training simulators and the impossibility for a seafarer to improve their skills without investing significant amounts, we purchased training complexes:
- Transas full mission bridge simulator NTPro 5000 for four bridges, with the ability to emulate several types of ships and navigation areas.
- Transas engine room simulator 5000 TechSlim for four engine rooms with emulation of an electronic ME and auxiliary mechanisms.
All four bridges have the opportunity to work together in the same area, which allows you to train in such complex operations as mooring ships on the high seas (Sip-to-Ship operation).
Experienced instructors conduct courses for both the bridge and the engine teams. The interaction of the watch is being worked out in various situations and conditions of navigation, training of helmsmen is being conducted, familiarization of engineers with the peculiarities of working with the ME with electronic control. The company organizes distance learning courses for its seafarers to familiarize themselves with the requirements of SARE 2.0 for tankers, training navigators to use ECDIS installed on each specific vessel (ECDIS type specific training), courses on Cybersecurity, Investigation and Analysis, Calibration and use of Gas Analyzers, familiarization with the company’s Security Management System, training seafarers to undergo industry inspections (Vetting, RightShip, ENEL, etc.), trainings on preparing a transition plan, etc. All courses and trainings organized by the company are absolutely free for seafarers. In addition, the company compensates the cost of seafarers to undergo a medical examination.
The company does everything in its power to facilitate both the process of employment of a seafarer, work on board a ship and return to their homeland.
